At the mouth of Tampa Bay
and just S.W. of Ft. Desoto, you will find the ever-peaceful Egmont
Key. Accessible only by
boat, Egmont Key boasts miles of brick laid trails, old war
structures, and beautiful white beaches. Approaching Egmont Key from
the Sunshine Skyway side provides a protected cove for smooth and
easy anchoring even in rougher seas. For the true beauty of
Egmont, though, you must anchor on the West side.
Unlike some of the other
destinations, Egmont Key is a protected area. They are strict on
campfires, littering, and especially turtle nests during the
mating/hatching season.
If you want a nice long
walk on an almost private island, Egmont Key is the charter you
want.
